What is the latest status of Bhikhanpur Gumti No. 12 ROB?
The Road Construction Department of Bihar has formally sent a letter to the railway authorities highlighting the urgent need for an ROB at Gumti No. 12. This crossing is a critical point for approximately 15,000 to 20,000 residents living in areas like Bhikhanpur, Jichho, Lodipur, and Laluchak Bhatta. These locals currently face heavy gridlocks daily.
During a recent session in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, the Road Construction Minister confirmed this development in response to a question raised by local MLA Rohit Pandey. The state government has acknowledged the increasing population density and traffic volume, urging the Eastern Railway to expedite the construction process to ease the commute for thousands.
Progress on Tatarpur Bridge and Recent Rail Incidents
There is a major update regarding the proposed ROB near Muslim High School on Amarpur Road. The responsibility for this project has been transferred from the Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam directly to the Railways. Work is progressing, and soil testing for the site was successfully completed on February 24, 2026. This bridge serves a route used by nearly 2 lakh people from over 100 villages entering the city.
Commuters should also be aware of recent operational challenges. On February 21, a Toto (e-rickshaw) collided with the level crossing gate near Muslim High School, breaking it. This incident caused a disruption of about four hours on the Bhagalpur-Jamalpur rail section. Trains had to be managed manually while repairs were undertaken, leading to delays for passengers.
