A tragic incident occurred at Shahdara Railway Station in Delhi on Friday evening, leaving daily commuters in shock. A 22-year-old security guard named Rohit Kumar lost his life after being hit by an express train. The unfortunate accident happened while he was chasing a thief who had just snatched his mobile phone on platform number 3.

How did the incident happen?
According to official reports, Rohit Kumar, a resident of Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, was waiting for a train to return home after finishing his duty. He was employed as a security guard at Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Hospital. Around 4:53 PM, a thief snatched his mobile phone while he was standing on the platform.
In a desperate attempt to recover his phone, Rohit chased the snatcher. During the pursuit, he stepped onto the railway tracks without noticing the approaching train. Unfortunately, he was run over by the Uttaranchal Sampark Kranti Express (Train number 15035) which runs from Old Delhi to Kathgodam.
What is the police doing now?
The Delhi Police and Railway Protection Force (RPF) responded immediately after receiving a call about the accident. The victim was taken to Aruna Asaf Ali Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. A case of snatching has been officially registered, and police are conducting further proceedings under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
