A shocking incident has come to light at Raxaul Railway Station in Bihar, where a dead body was discovered inside a sleeper coach of the Satyagraha Express. The train, number 15274, had arrived from Anand Vihar Terminal, Delhi, and was parked at the washing pit for routine maintenance. Railway workers entered the coach late at night to clean it when they saw the body of a young man hanging from an iron chain. The incident caused immediate panic at the station, and senior officials from the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) rushed to the scene.
What did the police find inside the coach?
The body was found in coach S-5 near berth number 57. The deceased is estimated to be between 25 and 35 years old. According to the initial investigation led by Railway DSP Rajesh Kumar, the body was hanging by a chain, but there were suspicious signs suggesting foul play. Blood was found on the floor directly beneath the body, and officials noticed a cut on the man’s right hand, which looks like an injury from a sharp weapon.
A forensic team was called to the spot to collect samples and evidence before the body was moved. Police searched the clothes of the deceased but found no mobile phone, identity card, or ticket. This lack of identification has made it difficult for the police to contact the man’s family immediately. Photos of the deceased have been sent to nearby police stations and shared on social media platforms to help with identification.
Is the case treated as suicide or murder?
While the body was found hanging, the presence of blood and the injury on the hand has forced the police to look beyond the suicide angle. SHO Pawan Kumar stated that an Unnatural Death (U.D.) case has been registered, and the investigation is open to all possibilities, including robbery or murder. The body has been sent to Motihari Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination, which will reveal the exact cause of death.
The police are currently trying to identify passengers who travelled in coach S-5 from Delhi to Raxaul. They are also questioning the railway staff who were on duty during the journey. Security has been tightened at the washing pit area, though normal operations at the station continue as usual.
