Central Railway and the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) have successfully completed a major engineering task between Panvel and Kalamboli. A special traffic and power block was implemented on the night of January 25–26, 2026, to facilitate this work. The block was taken to launch a massive open web girder for the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) project. This operation marks a significant milestone in improving freight connectivity in the region.

Details of the Massive Engineering Work
The engineering block was effective from 1:20 AM to 5:20 AM, lasting for about four hours. During this short window, the engineering teams launched a steel open web girder that is 110.5 meters long and weighs 1,500 metric tonnes. This structure is recorded as the longest Rail Flyover (RFO) girder constructed by DFCCIL till date. The work took place on the UP and DOWN Main Lines, which required careful planning to minimize disruption. Along with this main task, teams also worked on subway construction and bridge maintenance at Panvel.
