Northern Railway has announced the extension of special reserve express train services between New Delhi and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to handle the heavy rush of passengers during the summer holidays. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal mentioned that the decision was taken due to the high popularity of the route and consistent 100 percent occupancy. This extension is expected to provide a convenient and affordable travel option for pilgrims and tourists heading towards Jammu and Kashmir.

What are the timings and operation dates for the special train
Train number 04081 will depart from New Delhi at 11:45 PM and reach Katra at 12:00 PM the following day. This service is scheduled to run from April 15 to July 15, 2026, completing a total of 40 trips. For the return journey, train number 04082 will leave Katra at 9:00 PM and arrive in New Delhi at 10:00 AM. The return service will operate from April 16 to July 16, 2026, also performing 40 additional trips.

The special train will consist of 21 coaches, which significantly improves the chances of getting confirmed tickets during the peak season. It will provide connectivity to several intermediate stations between Delhi and Katra. Passengers can book their tickets through the IRCTC website, mobile application, or authorized PRS counters.
