The rail connectivity between Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan is set for a major upgrade with the upcoming Bhopal-Ramganj Mandi railway project. This new line will significantly bridge the gap between Bhopal and the industrial city of Kota. Expected completion and operational status
The Bhopal-Ramganj Mandi railway project is currently in its final stages of completion. While 187 kilometers of the track have been constructed, the remaining 89 kilometers are expected to be finished by March 2026. Official announcements from the West Central Railway indicate that the line will definitely start operations by December 2026. Recent developments include a successful speed trial at 130 km/h on the Khilchipur-Rajgarh City section, which confirms the track’s readiness for high-speed passenger services. This project is being monitored under the Prime Minister’s Fast-Track initiative to ensure trade and travel benefits reach the public soon.
