Ahmedabad is set to receive its inaugural Amrit Bharat Express service, connecting the city to Patna. The Railway Board officially approved the regularization of this special train as the 21905/21906 Ahmedabad–Patna Amrit Bharat Express on March 25, 2026. This new weekly service aims to provide a comfortable and affordable long-distance travel option for passengers between Gujarat and Bihar.
What is the schedule for the Ahmedabad–Patna Amrit Bharat Express?
The Amrit Bharat Express will operate once a week, offering convenient travel times for commuters. Here are the detailed timings for both directions:
- Train No. 21905 Ahmedabad–Patna Amrit Bharat Express: This train departs from Ahmedabad every Wednesday at 6:30 pm and reaches Patna at 12:30 am on Friday.
- Train No. 21906 Patna–Ahmedabad Amrit Bharat Express: Departing from Patna every Friday at 10:30 pm, this service arrives in Ahmedabad at 5:25 am on Sunday.
Railway officials confirmed that primary maintenance for the rake will be conducted at Ahmedabad, with watering facilities available at Ratlam, Kota, Govindpuri, and Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya stations.
What are the commercial stoppages and recent passenger concerns?
The Amrit Bharat Express will make several commercial stops along its route to facilitate passenger boarding and deboarding. These include Anand, Chhayapuri, Godhra, Dahod, Ratlam, Bhawani Mandi, Ramganj Mandi, Kota, Sawai Madhopur, Gangapur City, Hindaun City, Bayana, Idgah Agra, Tundla, Govindpuri, Subedarganj, and Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya stations.
However, recent developments on March 26, 2026, indicate passenger dissatisfaction in Bihar. Commuters are demanding the re-inclusion of Ara Junction as a stoppage point, as the updated schedule currently bypasses Ara and Buxar stations.
The Amrit Bharat Express is designed as a non-air-conditioned, low-cost, superfast express service, providing sleeper and unreserved coaches for long-distance journeys. It operates with a single rake comprising 22 coaches, including 20 for passengers and 2 for parcels, at a maximum speed of 110–130 km/h.
