Ayodhya is set to witness a major boost in its rail and road infrastructure. The government has recently released funds for the construction of two new railway overbridges (ROBs) to ease traffic congestion. These projects aim to provide smoother connectivity for pilgrims and locals visiting the temple town. The development comes as part of the ongoing efforts to modernize the transport network in the region.

Details of Halkara Ka Purwa Railway Overbridge
The construction of a new two-lane overbridge near Halkara Ka Purwa has received a significant financial boost with an allocation of ₹76 crore. This project has already secured administrative and financial approvals from the authorities. Survey work is expected to begin shortly to finalize the layout and technical requirements. UP Rajya Setu Nigam Limited is the primary agency responsible for this project.

Construction at Akbarpur-Ayodhya-Barabanki Section
Another major project involves a two-lane overbridge at Level Crossing No. 125C on the Akbarpur-Ayodhya-Barabanki rail section. The total cost for this bridge is estimated at ₹96.82 crore. For the financial year 2025-26, an initial amount of approximately ₹21.54 crore has been released to kickstart the construction activities. This bridge will be built at KM 975/20-22 to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.
The main objective of this overbridge is to eliminate traffic jams and make the rail and road journey safer for commuters. This is particularly important for tourists and pilgrims traveling through this section. The project manager, Rohit Agarwal, will oversee the execution of the work through the UP Rajya Setu Nigam Limited.
