The redevelopment project focuses on enhancing the travel experience for every passenger. The project will ensure that basic and modern amenities are upgraded to meet current standards. The following changes are planned for the station:
- Better seating arrangements and upgraded waiting halls for commuters
- Clean drinking water stations and improved sanitation facilities
- Special ramps and easy access points for Divyang passengers
- Bright lighting systems and beautification of the station building
- Widening of roads near the station for smoother vehicle movement
Official timeline and project execution details
According to Sumit Kumar, the Chief Public Relations Officer of North Eastern Railway, the administrative process is moving fast. The tender for the 19 crore project is expected to be finalized by the end of April 2026. Once the tender is awarded, the construction work will start within a month. This project follows the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme launched by the Ministry of Railways in December 2022 to modernize rail travel across the country.
