Stampede at Bandra Railway Station

A stampede occurred on platform number 1 of Bandra railway station in Maharashtra on Sunday, resulting in injuries to nine individuals. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) reported that the injured passengers were promptly admitted to the hospital for treatment. The incident happened around 5:56 am and was attributed to an overwhelming crowd trying to board the 22921 Bandra-Gorakhpur Express train. A civic official indicated that the stampede broke out during a scuffle among passengers attempting to board the train.

Injured Passengers Identified

The BMC officials have identified the injured passengers involved in the incident, which includes individuals of various ages. The injured are Shabir Abdul Rehman (40), Parmeshwar Sukhdar Gupta (28), Ravindra Harihar Chuma (30), Ramsevak Ravindra Prasad Prajapati (29), Sanjay Tilakram Kange (27), Divyanshu Yogendra Yadav (18), Mohammad Sharif Shaikh (25), Inderjit Sahani (19), and Noor Mohammad Shaikh (18). Their conditions have not been disclosed, but they are currently receiving medical attention.

Political Reactions and Other Railway Incidents

In the wake of the Bandra incident, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut criticized the BJP government, citing a rise in railway accidents since the current administration took power. He questioned the accountability of the Railway Minister and highlighted the ongoing issues faced by the suburban railway system in Mumbai. Meanwhile, another railway incident occurred in Madhya Pradesh, where a goods train became divided after the coupling mechanism failed. Fortunately, this incident did not disrupt traffic on the railway route, and the train was able to continue its journey after the issue was resolved.
