The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has confirmed that the new 2.26 km underground link connecting Aerocity to Terminal-1 is ready for operations. This extension falls under the Golden Line and aims to start serving the public by March 2026. It serves as a crucial bridge between the domestic terminal at T1 and the international hub at Aerocity. Passengers will no longer need to rely on road transport to transfer between these key airport points.
What makes this new route important for travelers?
This section bridges the connectivity gap between the Magenta Line at Terminal-1 and the Airport Express Line at Aerocity. The Aerocity station has been upgraded into a triple interchange hub, connecting the Golden Line, Airport Express, and the upcoming NCRTC Alwar corridor. This setup allows seamless movement for passengers carrying luggage without exiting the system.
Official reports indicate this link now serves as the primary alternative to the proposed Air Train project. Authorities have focused on platform-to-platform transfer protocols. This ensures that domestic-to-international passengers can transit between T1 and T3 via this new link in under 10 minutes. The platforms are located approximately 22 meters underground to facilitate this smooth flow.
