Daily commuters in Madhya Pradesh are set to benefit from a significant boost in regional rail connectivity. The North Central Railway has prepared a detailed proposal to operate new local trains connecting Gwalior to Ruthiyai and Veerpur. This move comes in response to the growing number of passengers and a long-standing shortage of train services on these specific routes.
What are the details of the proposed train services for Gwalior?
The railway administration plans to introduce a MEMU train for the route leading to Ruthiyai and an ICF coach train for the Veerpur section. According to official reports, the necessary ICF coaches have already reached the Gwalior railway station, signaling that the project is in its final stages. Currently, a MEMU train operates up to Kailaras, and there are active plans to extend this network further to accommodate more passengers.
How will this new rail service benefit the local public?
- Better Connectivity: The new trains will specifically help passengers traveling towards Guna who currently face a lack of adequate transport facilities.
- Daily Commute: People traveling for work or business between Gwalior and Ruthiyai will have a more reliable and frequent mode of transport.
- Restoration of Services: These new services will fill the gap created after the closure of the old narrow-gauge train that previously connected Gwalior to Sheopur.
- Official Approval: Shashikant Tripathi, CPRO of North Central Railway, confirmed that the proposal has been sent to the Railway Board, and operations will begin as soon as the final nod is received.
- Trial Progress: Railway authorities have already completed trial runs up to Veerpur to ensure the tracks are ready for regular passenger traffic.
