Indian Railways has introduced a new initiative to encourage digital ticketing among passengers. Commuters booking unreserved tickets through the RailOne mobile application will now receive an upfront 3 percent discount on their fare. This scheme is designed to reduce the reliance on cash transactions at station counters and will remain operational until July 14, 2026.

How to avail the discount and payment details
The 3 percent discount is applied immediately at the time of ticket purchase rather than as a delayed cashback. This facility is available for all unreserved ticket categories booked through the RailOne app. Passengers can make payments using various digital platforms including UPI, debit cards, credit cards, and net banking to qualify for the reduction. Those who use the R-Wallet for payment can enjoy an additional 3 percent cashback, bringing the total savings to 6 percent.
Official announcement and implementation schedule
The Ministry of Railways directed the Center for Railway Information Systems to implement necessary software updates for this project in late 2025. The offer officially became active on January 14, 2026, and is scheduled to continue for a six-month period. Official statements from the Hajipur zone confirm that this move aims to manage station crowds and promote the RailOne app as a primary tool for ticket booking and other railway services.
