Introduction to Amrit Bharat Express

Indian Railways is set to enhance its services with the introduction of 50 Amrit Bharat Express trains in the 2025-26 fiscal year, primarily aimed at benefiting poor and middle-class families. Among these trains, one will operate between Delhi and Bhagalpur, promising an economical yet pleasant travel experience. This train will cover a distance of 1216 km in approximately 16 hours and will take a route that includes Patna.

Train Specifications

The Amrit Bharat Express will feature both General and Sleeper Class accommodations, catering to various passenger needs. It is designed to reach a maximum speed of 130 km/h and is expected to operate twice a week. The fare for the Sleeper Class is estimated to be around ₹600, making it an affordable option for those traveling between Delhi and Bhagalpur.

Route and Schedule

The train will travel from Delhi to Bhagalpur, making stops at key stations including Aligarh, Tundla, Shikohabad, Kanpur, Prayagraj, and several others, before reaching its final destination. The potential schedule indicates that the train will depart from Delhi at 7:00 PM and arrive in Bhagalpur at 2:00 PM the following day, with a similar return schedule from Bhagalpur to Delhi, departing at 6:00 PM and arriving at 1:00 PM the next day. Currently, passengers from Bhagalpur rely on trains like Vikramashila and Garib Rath or travel to Patna to catch trains to Delhi; the Amrit Bharat Express will provide a more direct and efficient travel option.
