The doubling work will cover key routes that currently operate on single tracks. The Railway Board has allocated the budget to start the Detailed Project Report (DPR) process immediately after the survey. The specific sections approved for the survey include:

DRM Veena Sinha stated that the Izzatnagar division currently manages around 1100 km of single-line tracks. Doubling these 363 km will reduce congestion and allow for an increase in long-distance trains. Plans are also in place to introduce Vande Bharat Express trains from Anwarganj Kanpur, Kathgodam, and Tanakpur. Furthermore, the survey for doubling the 212 km Bareilly-Pilibhit-Mailani-Sitapur line has also received approval to enhance regional connectivity.
