The modernization of Jammu Tawi Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is moving fast. The new station building is now ready, and railway authorities plan to move key offices to the new premises by May. While the entire project will conclude by 2027, passengers will soon start seeing major changes in facilities and services.
What new facilities are coming up at Jammu Tawi Station?
The revamped station will offer an airport-like experience to travelers. The number of platforms is increasing from three to seven to handle more trains efficiently. A massive 72-meter-wide air concourse will connect all platforms, providing ample space for waiting areas and food stalls. Additionally, two new 12-meter-wide foot overbridges and modern lifts are being installed for easy movement of passengers.
Project timeline and official updates
Northern Railway officials have confirmed that the core construction is in its final stages. General Manager Ashok Kumar Verma recently inspected the site to ensure quality standards. The project focuses on local Dogri culture in its design, especially reflecting the influence of the famous Raghunath Temple.
