The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has prepared a draft policy to speed up land acquisition for the proposed Namo Bharat train project. This policy is modeled after the Gurugram Metro land purchase system to facilitate the rail corridor connecting Delhi Sarai Kale Khan to Gurugram, Rewari, and Neemrana in Rajasthan. The primary goal is to avoid long delays associated with traditional acquisition laws and ensure a smooth construction timeline.
How will the direct land purchase policy benefit the project?
The Managing Director of NCRTC, Shalabh Goel, recently requested the Haryana government to adopt a direct purchase mechanism. Under the current Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act 2013, the process often takes significant time and leads to disputes. By purchasing land through mutual agreement, the corporation can provide faster compensation to landowners and start civil works earlier. This model was successfully approved for the Gurugram Metro and is now being considered for the RRTS corridors.

Current status of station designs and approvals
The design for the Cyber City station has already been completed and handed over to the Haryana Mass Rapid Transit Corporation. This station will feature entry and exit points spaced 150 to 200 meters apart to manage traffic and will be linked to the existing Rapid Metro via a foot over bridge. While the central government has cleared the 93.12 km stretch from Delhi to Bawal, the Detailed Project Reports for other sections are awaiting final approval. Tenders for the Gurugram-Bawal section are expected to be issued within the next month.
