Indian Railways has expanded the Amrit Bharat Express network by regularizing two major routes connecting Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. These push-pull technology trains are designed to provide modern travel facilities to the common man at affordable rates. Along with new train services, the Railway Board has also introduced a major policy change regarding seat availability and station modernization under the Amrit Bharat scheme.
Which new Amrit Bharat Express routes are starting soon?
The Mau-Jodhpur weekly special is now upgraded to a regular Amrit Bharat Express service. This will be the second such train for Rajasthan, providing better connectivity between Jodhpur and eastern Uttar Pradesh. Similarly, the Ahmedabad-Patna special train via Kota has been regularized to serve passengers in Gujarat and Bihar. While these trains offer improved speed and comfort, local passengers have raised concerns regarding the lack of stops at Ara and Buxar stations.
| Train Number | Route | Frequency | Departure Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| 14809/14810 | Jodhpur – Mau | Weekly | Jodhpur: Sun 5:00 PM / Mau: Tue 4:00 AM |
| 21905/21906 | Ahmedabad – Patna | Weekly | Ahmedabad: Wed 6:30 PM / Patna: Fri 10:30 PM |
What are the new rules and facilities for passengers?
Indian Railways will stop the Reservation Against Cancellation (RAC) system in all Amrit Bharat Express trains starting April 1, 2026. This decision ensures that every passenger with a confirmed ticket gets a full seat or berth, eliminating the need for two people to share a single lower seat. Currently, 60 Amrit Bharat services are operational across India with a high occupancy rate. These trains feature jerk-free couplers, CCTV cameras, emergency talk-back systems, and modern LED lighting.
- Modernization: 13 major railway stations in Delhi, including New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin, are being upgraded under the Amrit Bharat scheme.
- Coach Composition: Every train includes 11 general class coaches and 8 sleeper class coaches for low-income passengers.
- Charging Points: All seats are equipped with USB Type-A and Type-C mobile charging sockets.
- Safety: Advanced crashworthy coach structures have been implemented for passenger protection.
