Arrival of the First Patna Metro Train
The Patna Metro project is set to take a significant step forward with the anticipated arrival of its first three-coach train in July 2025. Manufactured by Titagarh Rail Systems Limited in Pune, this state-of-the-art train will be delivered to the metro depot in Patna, where assembly is expected to take 15 to 20 days. Following this assembly period, trial runs will commence along the 6.107 km primary corridor, marking an important milestone towards the operational launch of the metro system.
Passenger Capacity and Design Features
Designed to meet urban transportation needs, each metro coach will accommodate up to 300 passengers, allowing for a total capacity of approximately 900 passengers across the three coaches. This configuration is particularly advantageous for urban travel, as it promotes energy efficiency and provides a smoother travel experience with increased frequency and reduced crowding. The metro aims to deliver a modern solution to public transport in Patna, enhancing the overall commuter experience.
Metro Service Launch Timeline
The Urban Development and Housing Department has set a target date for the commencement of metro services on the primary corridor for August 15, 2025. The corridor will include five stations: New Pataliputra Bus Terminal, Zero Mile, Bhootnath, Khemanichak, and Malahi. However, it is important to note that the metro will not initially stop at Khemanichak station, as it is still under construction. This project is expected to revolutionize the transport system in Patna, providing affordable travel options and improved access to various areas of the city.
