Introduction of Festival Special Train

In anticipation of the festive season, including Navratri, Dussehra, Deepawali, and Chhath Puja, the Northern Railway has announced a significant decision to accommodate the increased passenger demand. A bi-weekly festival special train will operate between New Delhi and Darbhanga Junction, offering a much-needed travel solution for passengers during this busy period. This initiative is expected to enhance the travel experience and ease the rush associated with the upcoming festivals.

Train Schedule and Operations

The special train, designated as train number 02262/02261, will undertake a total of 28 journeys between October 13, 2024, and November 27, 2024. Train number 02262 will depart from New Delhi at 12:20 AM and arrive at Darbhanga Junction at 11:15 PM, while train number 02261 will leave Darbhanga at 8:15 PM and reach New Delhi at 11:20 PM. Both trains will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays, ensuring that passengers have multiple travel options throughout the festive season.

Stops and Passenger Accommodations

The festival special train will make stops at several key stations, including Govindpuri, Prayagraj Junction, Deendayal Upadhyay Junction, Buxar, Arrah, Danapur, Patliputra Junction, Hajipur Junction, Muzaffarpur Junction, and Samastipur Junction. To cater to various passenger needs, the train will feature a range of accommodations, including AC coaches, sleeper class coaches, and general class coaches, ensuring that travelers can choose an option that suits their preferences and budget.
