The construction work of the railway overbridge at the Rohtak Road railway gate in Charkhi Dadri has finally resumed after a month-long halt. The project agency has deployed machinery and workers back to the site following their return from leave. This 940-meter long four-lane bridge is expected to provide significant relief to commuters who face frequent traffic jams at the railway crossing.
Current Status and Project Details
The 78 crore rupees project is being managed by the Public Works Department, while the Railway department will handle the 60-meter section directly above the tracks. Although the project was initiated in February 2025, about 26 percent of the construction has been completed over the last 14 months. Currently, the agency is focusing on pile load testing on the road leading towards Bhagwan Parshuram Chowk to accelerate the progress.
Timeline and Concerns for Local Commuters
According to the contract, the project is scheduled to be completed by February 2027. Local residents have expressed concerns over the slow pace of work and the safety hazards caused by mud and potholes at the construction site. Officials have instructed the agency to work day and night to compensate for the recent delay and ensure the project stays on track for its two-year deadline. The completion of this bridge will permanently solve the congestion issue on the busy Rohtak Road route.
