Sikandrarao Railway Station in Hathras is undergoing a significant expansion to accommodate the rising number of passengers. The North Eastern Railway Izzatnagar division has approved the construction of a second platform at the station. This project is part of the ongoing efforts to improve railway infrastructure and provide better facilities to the local community as construction work has already commenced on the site.
What are the main features of the new platform?
- The new platform will have a length of approximately 600 meters to support long trains.
- The railway has allocated a budget of around four crore rupees for this construction project.
- The entire development work is expected to be completed within a period of one year.
- The proposal for this project was initiated by Hathras City Station to meet growing local demands.
Expected benefits for the railway passengers
The addition of a second platform will streamline train operations at Sikandrarao by allowing multiple trains to be handled simultaneously. This will help in reducing congestion and minimizing waiting times for various train arrivals. Passengers on long-distance routes will find it easier to board and deboard trains without the usual overcrowding. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Sanjeev Kumar Sharma confirmed that the railway is continuously undertaking such development works to serve passenger needs efficiently.
