What’s inside:
Starting in 2025, premium trains in India will serve food from well-known brands, improving the catering experience for passengers.
In a big update, India’s premium trains will start serving food from popular branded companies from 2025. This change is part of a new catering policy that aims to make train journeys more enjoyable for passengers.
The railway board has already prepared this new policy, which will be announced soon. The goal is to ensure that travelers get tasty and clean food at reasonable prices, thanks to increased competition among catering companies.
This new policy will be applied to various premium trains like the Vande Bharat Express, Rajdhani Express, and Shatabdi Express. The plan is to enhance the catering options with a variety of dishes, all while keeping ticket prices the same.
Under this policy, not just IRCTC but also branded food companies will be allowed to enter the catering business. For the pilot project, well-known brands will provide food without increasing rail fares, ensuring high-quality service.
In the pilot project, a French company named Elior will supply lunch, while Haldiram will provide breakfast. The railway aims to maintain strict quality control, ensuring that passengers enjoy a world-class dining experience on their journeys.
