Punjab is set to get a big boost in its railway infrastructure. The Centre has announced two important railway projects for the flood-hit state on Tuesday.
The Union Railway Minister and the Minister of State for Railways have revealed that the long-awaited Mohali–Rajpura rail link is finally starting. This link has been a request for almost 50 years!
Additionally, a new Vande Bharat Express train will run between Ferozepur and New Delhi. This train will operate six days a week, taking a break every Wednesday.
To make the Mohali-Rajpura rail link happen, the Railways will need 54 hectares of land. The Punjab Government will take care of acquiring this land and will hand it over to the Centre.
There are more railway projects coming up in Punjab as well, like the revamped Chandigarh railway station, which is expected to be ready by 2026-27.
