On Monday morning around 6:40 AM, heavy debris and trees fell on the Haridwar-Moti Chur railway line, damaging the overhead electric line. This incident has disrupted train operations from Haridwar to Dehradun and Rishikesh.
As a result of the mishap, several trains including the Vande Bharat from Dehradun to Anand Vihar and passenger trains from Rishikesh to Haridwar have been canceled. The railway team is actively working on the site to clear the debris and fix the damage.
Due to this disruption, trains like the Dehradun-Saharanpur passenger and the Rishikesh-Haridwar passenger services have been canceled. The Rishikesh-Puri Express is expected to resume operations after 5 PM today.
Additionally, some trains have been short-terminated or short-originated. This includes the Howrah-Rishikesh Express and the Amritsar-Dehradun Express among others, which will see changes in their schedules.
The Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of the Northern Railway has confirmed that efforts to restore the railway line are ongoing at a rapid pace. Train services are expected to resume soon.
