The update shares that the reconstruction of Secunderabad Railway Station will be completed by December next year, despite the lack of state government support.
Secunderabad Railway Station is getting a major makeover, which is expected to be done by December next year. Union Minister Kishan Reddy shared this news after checking on the progress of the construction work.
The redevelopment is set to cost ₹715 crores and aims to make the station international standard. The station currently sees around 1.97 lakh passengers daily, and the construction is moving ahead without causing much trouble to the travelers.
New facilities like multi-level parking and foot overbridges are being built. There will also be a waiting hall for 3,000 passengers and a canteen. The aim is to ensure smooth access for metro and bus passengers directly to the station.
Since the formation of Telangana, the railway budget has increased significantly, from ₹258 crores in 2014-15 to ₹5,337 crores in 2025-26. The government is also working on various railway projects worth ₹42,219 crores in the state.
Despite writing multiple letters to the state government for road expansion in front of Secunderabad Station, there has been no response. The government plans to continue the Metro Phase-2 work without state collaboration and aims to start new rail coach production units soon.
