This article informs about the new cancellation and refund rules for Vande Bharat Sleeper Express and Amrit Bharat Express trains introduced by Indian Railways.
Indian Railways has updated the ticket cancellation and refund rules for Vande Bharat Sleeper Express and Amrit Bharat Express trains. This change was announced recently and is now published in the official Gazette of India.
Under the new rules, if a passenger cancels their ticket more than 72 hours before the scheduled departure, they will be charged a 25% cancellation fee. The remaining amount will be refunded back to the passenger.
For cancellations made between 72 hours and 8 hours prior to departure, a 50% cancellation charge will apply, meaning the passenger will get back only half of the ticket fare. However, if the cancellation happens within 8 hours of the train’s departure, no refund will be given.
Previously, general trains had a different cancellation policy with lower charges. Now, for these specific trains, the 25% deduction applies right after booking. Also, the Reservation Against Cancellation (RAC) facility is no longer available for these trains.
Railways has instructed all zonal offices to make sure that passengers are aware of these new rules. Information will be displayed at booking counters and updated on the railway website and inquiry systems.
