What’s inside:

Indian Railways is bringing back train stoppages at several stations in Odisha and nearby areas starting September 1, 2025.

Indian Railways will start restoring train stoppages at important stations in Odisha and its neighboring states from September 1, 2025. This decision comes after many people and local leaders asked for better access to smaller stations that serve important routes.

The trains that will be affected include those connecting to places like pilgrimage sites, industrial areas, and border towns. This move aims to reduce traffic on the roads and help passengers reach their final destinations more easily from smaller stations.

Starting September 1, 2025, several trains will have new halts. For example, the Puri–Shalimar Dhauli Express will stop at Markona, while the Titlagarh–Howrah Ispat Express will halt at Bagdehi. More stoppages will be added on September 2, 5, and 7, 2025, according to the schedule.

Travelers should check the updated train schedules and plan their trips accordingly. The new halts will be added to online booking systems gradually, making it easier for passengers to find the information they need.

Additionally, the Rourkela–Howrah Vande Bharat Express will expand from 8 coaches to 16 as part of a nationwide effort to increase train capacity in busy areas. This change reflects the high demand for train travel in these regions.

Summary:

  • Train stoppages will resume at important Odisha stations from September 1, 2025.

  • The decision responds to public requests for better access to smaller stations.

  • New halts will include Markona, Bagdehi, Bisra, and more.

  • Travelers are advised to check updated train schedules online.

  • The Rourkela–Howrah Vande Bharat Express will double its capacity.
