India’s First Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Launched from Howrah to Guwahati, No VIP Quota for Passengers

India has recently launched its first Vande Bharat sleeper express train running between Howrah and Guwahati. Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off this train during his visit to Malda.

This train is designed specifically for common passengers, and importantly, there will be no VIP quota for reservations. Even senior railway officials cannot book tickets on this train using special privileges.


Passengers will only receive confirmed tickets, eliminating the hassle of waiting lists. Additionally, there will be no RAC tickets available, which is a step towards promoting equality among travelers.

The train will have 11 third AC coaches, 4 second AC coaches, and 1 first AC coach, providing a total of 823 berths. Among these, there will be 611 in third AC, 188 in second AC, and 24 in first AC. Local food will also be served to passengers.


This initiative reflects the government’s effort to remove VIP culture in train travel. With a focus on transparency and equality, the Vande Bharat sleeper train aims to enhance the travel experience for all.
