This article talks about the Kudmi community’s protest for Scheduled Tribe status and inclusion of Kudmali language in the constitution.

The Kudmi community held a protest on Saturday at Parasnath station, blocking railway tracks. They are demanding Scheduled Tribe status for their community and inclusion of Kudmali language in the constitution’s eighth schedule.

Hundreds of protesters participated in this movement, which significantly affected train services. Many trains had their routes changed, and the protesters sat on the tracks for nearly nine hours, raising slogans in support of their demands.

As a result of the protest, several passenger and express trains were diverted or delayed. For instance, the Delhi-Bhubaneswar Tejas Express was halted for about seven hours before being moved to Koderma for passenger convenience.

In addition to the train disruptions, the protest also created silence at Hazari Bagh Road station, where ticket sales were stopped from 6 AM. Passengers were left confused and frustrated due to unexpected delays.

Local MLAs and officials attempted to negotiate with the protesters, but discussions did not lead to a resolution. The situation remains tense as the Kudmi community continues to push for their rights.

Summary:

  • Kudmi community protests at Parasnath station.

  • They demand Scheduled Tribe status and Kudmali language recognition.

  • Train services were disrupted for hours.

  • Passengers faced confusion and delays.

  • Negotiations between officials and protesters failed.
