A new 20-car Vande Bharat Express train has begun its journey between Mangaluru Central and Thiruvananthapuram Central.
On Tuesday, a new 20-car Vande Bharat Express train started its first trip from Mangaluru Central to Thiruvananthapuram Central. This train is an upgrade from the previous 16-car version.
The train, numbered 20631, was welcomed at Thiruvananthapuram Central by officials from Southern Railway, including the Divisional Railway Manager. This new arrangement comes after the number of coaches was doubled earlier this year.
Passengers can now enjoy more seats, as the train’s capacity has increased from 1,128 to 1,440. The upgraded service runs daily, departing Mangaluru at 6:25 AM and reaching Thiruvananthapuram at 3:00 PM. It then leaves Thiruvananthapuram at 4:05 PM for its return journey.
This new 20-car rake is the 89th one made by the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai. The train has been very popular, achieving a high occupancy rate of 160%, making it a preferred choice for many travelers.
