Mukesh Kumar Jalaan raised important railway development issues at a meeting in Kolkata, focusing on passenger facilities and services.
Mukesh Kumar Jalan, a key member from the Giridih-Koderma Lok Sabha area, recently attended a ZRUCC meeting in Kolkata. He spoke about the need for improving railway services and passenger facilities in the Eastern Railway zone.
During the meeting, Jalan emphasized the urgent need to double the railway line from Madhupur to New Giridih to Koderma. He also asked for a direct train service from Giridih to both Patna and Kolkata to better connect the region.
Passengers can expect improvements if these suggestions are implemented. For instance, he proposed that the Vande Bharat train from Howrah to Patna should stop at Madhupur, which would benefit travelers from Giridih and Koderma. He also requested to increase the number of general compartments in the Asansol-Hatia Express from 6 to 10 to accommodate more passengers.
In addition to this, Jalan suggested adding an extra AC-3 coach and making stops at Maheshmunda and Salaiya stations. He mentioned that the seats in the Howrah-Gaya Vande Bharat train are often empty, so running it three days a week through various local stations could enhance passenger convenience.
Jalan also drew attention to the poor condition of the railway overbridge at Tundi Road, calling for a new double-lane bridge. Furthermore, he proposed reopening the closed railway library in Giridih and suggested developing the Antabangla ground into a sports and park area. He even requested to rename Salaiya station to Pachamba to reflect local sentiments.
