This article shares important suggestions made at a railway meeting in Kolkata aimed at improving train services and facilities in the Giridih-Koderma area.
A recent meeting of the Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) took place at the Taj Bengal Hotel in Kolkata. Mukesh Kumar Jalan, a key member from the Giridih-Koderma Lok Sabha area, shared several important suggestions regarding the development of the Eastern Railway and passenger facilities.
Jalan emphasized the need for doubling the railway line between Madhupur, New Giridih, and Koderma. He mentioned that this project is crucial for improving connectivity and boosting economic growth in the region. He also requested direct train services from Giridih to Patna and Kolkata, as many passengers travel to these cities for education and medical reasons.
He proposed that the Vande Bharat Express should stop at Madhupur station to benefit travelers from Giridih and Koderma directly. Additionally, he suggested increasing the number of general coaches in the Asansol-Hatia Express from six to ten, adding an extra AC-3 coach, and making stops at Maheshmunda and Salaiya stations.
Moreover, Jalan suggested that the Hawaada-Gaya Vande Bharat Express, which often has empty seats, could run three days a week via Gaya-Koderma-New Giridih-Madhupur-Asansol to improve convenience for passengers and increase railway revenue.
In the meeting, Jalan also called for the replacement of the dilapidated railway overbridge at Tundi Road with a double-lane bridge, reopening the closed railway library in Giridih, developing the Antabangla ground for sports and parks, and renaming Salaiya station to “Pachamba Station.”
