Introduction of the New Vande Bharat Express

Indian Railways has commenced the commercial service of the New Delhi-Varanasi Vande Bharat Express, which began operations from Varanasi Junction on September 18. This semi-high-speed train features a 20-coach configuration, accommodating more passengers compared to the previously operated 16 and 8-coach variants. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also flagged off several new Vande Bharat trains across various routes in the country during this week, enhancing the rail connectivity.

Operational Details and Timings

The new Vande Bharat Express trains, numbered 22436/22435 and 22415/22416, will operate between New Delhi and Varanasi, covering a distance of 771 kilometers in approximately 8 hours. Train number 22415 departs from New Delhi at 6:00 AM, arriving in Varanasi at 2:05 PM, while train number 22435 leaves Varanasi at 3:00 PM and reaches New Delhi at 11:00 PM. During its journey, the train will make stops at Prayagraj Junction and Kanpur Central Station, providing improved travel options for passengers.

Seating Capacity and Fare Structure

The 20-coach Vande Bharat Express offers a total of 1,440 seats, with options for both AC chair car and executive chair car accommodations. The fare for traveling from Varanasi to New Delhi is set at Rs 1,795 for the AC chair car and Rs 3,320 for the executive chair car. This new train service not only increases capacity but also aims to enhance the overall travel experience for passengers commuting between Varanasi and the national capital.
