Over 8,000 Passengers on Waiting List for Trains to Lucknow Ahead of Holi Celebrations

Lucknow is seeing a surge in train bookings for Holi, with over 8,000 passengers on the waiting list coming from cities like Delhi and Mumbai. The demand is particularly high for trains like the Lucknow Mail and AC Express.

Holi will be celebrated on March 4 this year, and due to February 27 falling on a Friday, many people are planning to travel to Lucknow from that date. As a result, the waiting list for several trains has increased significantly.


Some of the trains with high waiting lists include the Gorakh Dham Express and the Padmavat Express, with increased demand from February 27 to March 3. In contrast, premium trains like the AC Double Decker and Vande Bharat still have available seats.

For those looking to travel from Delhi, the Anand Vihar-Lucknow Double Decker has over 1,000 seats free on February 27, March 1, and March 3. Similarly, the Vande Bharat Express from Anand Vihar to Ayodhya also has available seats.


The railway is responding to the high demand by considering additional special trains for Holi and may add extra sleeper and AC coaches to some existing trains. Passengers are advised to check availability and book their tickets soon.
