Indian Railways has officially approved the operation of a new Vande Bharat Express train connecting Patna and Gorakhpur. This service will specifically cater to the needs of passengers in the Gopalganj region, providing them with a faster and more comfortable travel option. The proposal for this route was jointly prepared by the East Central Railway and North Eastern Railway zones and received in-principle approval from the Railway Board.
What are the key stops and route details for this train?
The new Vande Bharat Express will run between Pataliputra Junction in Patna and Gorakhpur. It is planned to serve several important locations along the route to ensure better regional connectivity. The primary stoppages for this train include the following stations:
- Pataliputra Junction (Patna)
- Sitalpur and Khaira
- Mashrakh
- Gopalganj and Thawe Junction
- Kaptanganj Junction and Gorakhpur
How will this new service benefit the daily passengers?
The biggest advantage of this Vande Bharat Express is the significant reduction in travel time. Currently, traveling between Patna and Gorakhpur takes about 8 to 10.5 hours. Once this train starts running, the journey will be completed in just 5 to 6 hours. Gopalganj MP Dr. Alok Kumar Suman shared that this service will be a major boost for local commuters. This train marks the sixth Vande Bharat Express to operate from Patna, further expanding the high-speed rail network in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
