Pune-Miraj Railway Doubling Completed, Promising Faster and Comfortable Travel for Commuters

What’s inside:

This article provides an update on the completion of the Pune-Miraj railway doubling project, enhancing travel between these two locations.

The Pune-Miraj railway doubling project has finally got the green light after the approval from the Railway Safety Commissioner. This means that now passengers can enjoy a much faster and comfortable travel experience between Pune and Miraj.

This project, which is about 280 kilometers long, was started in 2016. The last stretch from Koregaon to Rahimatpur to Targav has been completed, allowing trains to run at speeds of up to 100 kilometers per hour after a successful inspection.

With the completion of this doubling, the number of trains running on this route is expected to increase. Currently, around nine trains operate daily, including express and passenger services. More trains will mean less crowding and fewer delays for passengers.

Before this, there were many complaints about delays and limited train capacity. Now, thanks to the doubling, the railways will be able to handle more freight traffic too, which is a big boost for the local economy.

Overall, this project will greatly benefit regions like Konkan, Western Maharashtra, and the Karnataka border. With the railway doubling now operational, the future looks promising for efficient rail connectivity in the area.

Summary:

  • Pune-Miraj railway doubling project has received approval.

  • 280 kilometers of railway line doubling is now completed.

  • Increased train frequency expected to ease passenger congestion.

  • More freight capacity will benefit the local economy.

  • Improved connectivity for regions like Konkan and Western Maharashtra.
