What’s inside:

The Indian Railways is improving its waste management system in trains to ensure cleanliness and comfort for passengers.

The Indian Railways is taking steps to make train travel cleaner and more comfortable for passengers. New rules are being implemented to manage waste properly from train coaches. This initiative aims to improve cleanliness during journeys.

The railway board has introduced guidelines that will help monitor cleaning in running trains. Employees will not be allowed to throw waste out of windows or doors anymore, ensuring that garbage is collected and disposed of properly.

Currently, around 200 trains operate daily in the region, and with the festive season, there is an increase in passengers. Each day, about 1,800 kg of both biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste is generated from these trains.

Trains like Vande Bharat and Rajdhani will now have a systematic way of collecting and managing waste. Employees will receive training and proper cleaning tools to adhere to these new waste disposal practices.

With these changes, the railway aims to enhance hygiene and cleanliness in trains. If any staff neglects their duties regarding waste management, they may face strict actions, including termination of their contracts.

Summary:

  • New waste management rules for Indian Railways trains.

  • No throwing of waste from moving trains.

  • About 1,800 kg of waste produced daily from 200 trains.

  • Staff will be trained and provided with cleaning tools.

  • Strict actions against negligence in waste management.
