The Ministry of Railways has sanctioned 100 new railway projects for the upcoming financial year to enhance the national transport network. With an investment of 1.53 lakh crore, these projects will cover more than 6000 km of new tracks across the country. The initiative primarily focuses on improving connectivity in tribal areas and boosting the logistics infrastructure in key states like Maharashtra, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Madhya Pradesh.

Which states will benefit the most from these railway projects
Maharashtra has received the highest number of 17 new projects to strengthen its suburban and regional connectivity. Bihar will see 11 new projects, including the significant Bihta to Aurangabad line and progress on the Bullet Train route. Jharkhand is set to get 10 projects while Madhya Pradesh has been allotted 9 important rail works. These projects aim to connect backward regions and reduce the travel time between major cities significantly.
What steps are being taken to eliminate train delays
Indian Railways is implementing several technological and policy changes to ensure trains run on time. The Kavach system is being installed across the network to prevent accidents and minimize delays during the fog season. Additionally, a Dynamic Halt Policy will use AI algorithms to remove stops at stations with very low passenger bookings. This change is expected to save between 30 minutes to two hours of travel time for many long distance trains.
