Commuters in the National Capital Region need to note an important change in the travel schedule for the upcoming festival. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced that metro services will not be available during the morning hours on the day of Holi, Wednesday, March 4, 2026. Train operations on all lines will commence only from 2:30 PM onwards. This adjustment is an annual routine to accommodate the festival celebrations across the city.

Which lines and services are affected?
The suspension of morning services applies to the entire Delhi Metro network. This includes the Airport Express Line and the Rapid Metro in Gurugram. Passengers arriving at New Delhi or Old Delhi Railway Stations and IGI Airport before 2:30 PM will need to arrange for alternative modes of transport such as cabs or auto-rickshaws. Furthermore, the metro feeder bus services will also remain off the roads until 2:30 PM. Once operations begin in the afternoon, trains will run according to the standard schedule for the remainder of the day.
What are the rules for travel and security?
Security checks will be strictly enforced when the stations open in the afternoon. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and DMRC staff will ensure that passengers do not enter the premises in an intoxicated state or with wet clothes that could soil the train upholstery. Carrying liquid colors or sprays into the metro is typically prohibited. Token counters and customer care centers will open simultaneously with the gates at 2:30 PM. However, passengers can use digital ticketing options or smart cards for a smoother entry once services resume.
