The Ministry of Railways has announced the completion of the redevelopment project at Koppal Railway Station in Karnataka. This work was carried out under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme to modernize the travel experience for thousands of daily passengers. The station now features a completely new look with focus on better management and passenger comfort.
New features and passenger amenities
The redeveloped station includes several improvements that make it more convenient for the public. The Ministry has updated the infrastructure to ensure that every passenger has a smooth journey from the entrance to the platform. The key upgrades include the following.
- Modern station building with a fresh architectural design
- Organised parking area to reduce congestion outside the station
- Extended platform shelters for better protection from weather
- Comfortable waiting halls with improved seating for passengers
- New Lifts and Foot Over Bridges for easy movement between platforms
- Divyangjan-friendly facilities to ensure inclusive access for all
Project background and implementation
The foundation stone for the redevelopment of Koppal station was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 6, 2023. It was one of the 508 stations selected nationwide for transformation under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The official announcement regarding the completion of these modern facilities was made by the Ministry of Railways on April 9, 2026. This project reflects the ongoing efforts to improve rail connectivity and infrastructure within the state of Karnataka.
