Mumbai Train Service Disruption

The reconstruction work of bridge number 20 over the Mithi River, situated between Mahim and Bandra stations, has led to significant disruptions in train services managed by the Western Railway in Mumbai. As a result of this ongoing work, passengers are experiencing considerable inconvenience at various stations, with a notable crowd gathering at Kandivali railway station. Commuters have expressed frustration over the lack of timely information, stating that updates were only provided until 7 AM, leaving many uninformed about the ongoing disruptions.

Details of the Block and Train Cancellations

The bridge, originally constructed in 1888, is undergoing reconstruction at its southern end, necessitating a block on the Up and Down slow lines from 11 PM to 8:30 AM on the night of January 25-26. Additionally, the Down Fast Line will be blocked from 12:30 AM to 6:30 AM. During this period, over 250 local train services have been canceled, while around 150 services have been partially affected, contributing to the chaos and delays in the area.

Passenger Experiences and Concerns

Passengers at Kandivali railway station have reported overwhelming crowds on platforms one and two, with many struggling to navigate the situation. Commuters traveling towards Churchgate and Borivali Virar have been particularly affected. One passenger highlighted the disparity between railway employees receiving timely salaries and the difficulties faced by daily travelers relying on trains. Other passengers voiced their concerns about the lack of announcements and information regarding train schedules, with some waiting for hours without any updates. This has led to heightened frustration among those attempting to reach their workplaces.
