Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited Patna district on March 7, 2026, to inspect the ongoing construction of the Railway Overbridge (ROB) near Bakhtiyarpur Engineering College. During the inspection, he instructed the officials to ensure the rapid completion of the project. This bridge serves as a crucial link between National Highway-30 and State Highway-106.

Deadline and Construction Status
The construction of the 2-lane ROB is now in its final stages. Officials from the Road Construction Department briefed the Chief Minister that the project is targeted for completion within the current month of March 2026. The completion of this project will connect the old Patna-Bakhtiyarpur road with the new 4-lane highway structure. The project has a tender value of approximately ₹53.14 Crore.
Benefits for Students and Traffic Flow
Once operational, the ROB will provide significant relief to daily commuters. The Chief Minister emphasized that it will offer direct connectivity for students and teachers of Bakhtiyarpur Engineering College and Patliputra University. Additionally, the bridge will help reduce the traffic load on major structures like Mahatma Gandhi Setu and Rajendra Setu by providing an alternative route for vehicles traveling from Samastipur and Muzaffarpur.
Other Major Projects Inspected
During the visit, CM Nitish Kumar also reviewed the progress of other key infrastructure projects in the region. This included the Bakhtiyarpur-Tajpur Ganga Bridge and educational facilities.
- Bakhtiyarpur-Tajpur Bridge: 51.26 km total length, deadline set for end of 2026.
- Educational Infrastructure: New 5-storey building for Ganesh Higher Secondary School with 45 classrooms.
- Executing Agency: Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam (BRPNN) for the ROB.
