Sagar is set to witness a massive transformation in its railway network as several mega projects move forward to end the long wait at railway crossings. The central government has recently approved surveys for multiple new rail lines that will connect the region more effectively with the rest of Madhya Pradesh. These projects are designed to save travel time and provide a smoother commuting experience for lakhs of local residents and long-distance travelers.
Latest Updates on New Rail Line Surveys in MP
The railway department has sanctioned surveys for 11 new rail routes across the state to identify feasible connections. One of the most significant projects is the 320 km long Bhopal-Sagar-Chhatarpur-Damoh-Khajuraho line. West Central Railway and South East Central Railway are tasked with carrying out these surveys. This new route will provide a direct path from Sagar to Bhopal, fulfilling a major demand for better connectivity to the capital city.
In addition to this, signals have been given for the Detailed Project Report survey of the Sagar-Kareli-Chhindwara rail line. This route is expected to reduce the journey by nearly 120 kilometers and save over three hours of travel time. Another survey for a line from Khargapur to Sagar via Bada Malhara was previously budgeted to improve regional access. These projects together aim to modernize the regional rail infrastructure for future needs.
