Incident Overview

A significant railway accident was narrowly avoided due to the quick thinking and vigilance of a loco pilot on the night of September 18. The incident occurred on the route between Bilaspur Road and Rudrapur City Beach in Uttarakhand. Train number 12091 was en route from Bilaspur Road to Rudrapur when the loco pilot noticed an obstruction on the tracks around 10:00 PM. Realizing the potential danger, the pilot immediately applied the emergency brakes, halting the train in time.

Obstruction on the Tracks

At 10:18 PM, the loco pilot communicated with the Station Master at Rudrapur City, reporting a 6-meter-long iron pole that had been placed on the tracks at kilometer marker 43/10-11. The prompt action of the loco pilot not only prevented a potential derailment but also ensured the safety of all passengers on board. After stopping the train, the loco pilot safely removed the telecom pole from the tracks and resumed the journey without further incident.

Investigation and Arrests

Following the event, the Government Railway Police (GRP) initiated an investigation to determine if there was a deliberate attempt to sabotage the train. An FIR was registered, and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) began probing the circumstances surrounding the incident. As part of the investigation, GRP arrested three suspects who are currently being interrogated to ascertain their involvement in placing the pole on the tracks.
