This article gives updates on the crowded train situation in India due to the winter holidays, along with special arrangements by Indian Railways.
With winter holidays approaching, trains in India are getting very crowded. There is no room available in many trains heading to popular destinations like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Jammu & Kashmir.
Most of the crowd is seen in AC Second, Third, and Sleeper coaches. In First AC, waiting lists are from three to five people. To manage the situation, the railways are running special trains and adding more coaches.
The winter holidays start from December 25, and people can book train tickets 60 days in advance. Many travelers have already planned their trips and booked tickets ahead of time.
Trains from Agra go to major cities like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Jammu & Kashmir, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, and Rishikesh. Due to the heavy rush, there is no room in AC and sleeper coaches, making it impossible to book tickets when the seats are full.
Some of the busy trains include Golden Temple Express, Hoshiyarpur Express, Karnataka Express, and more. To help passengers, the railways are increasing the number of coaches and running special trains as needed.
