Passengers travelling on the Bhagalpur-Sahibganj rail section need to check their train schedules carefully for the next few days. The Eastern Railway has announced a traffic block for three days to carry out essential construction work. This block is being taken to launch girders for a new Road Over Bridge (ROB) between Tinpahar and Dhamdhamia stations. As a result, the movement of several trains will be affected on March 8, March 9, and March 11.
Which Trains Are Affected by the Block?
The work will take place during the day, mostly affecting passenger and express trains running in the morning hours. The railway officials have confirmed that the block will start only after the Bhagalpur-Azimganj and Rampurhat-Sahibganj passenger trains have passed. However, other trains will face delays and rescheduling.
- Rampurhat-Gaya Passenger: This train will depart 1 hour late from Rampurhat on March 8 and 11. On March 9, it will be delayed by 90 minutes.
- Malda Town-Anand Vihar Special: On March 9, this train will leave Malda Town 1 hour later than its scheduled time.
- Jaynagar-Howrah Express: This train will be stopped (controlled) for 10 minutes at Tinpahar on March 8. On March 9, it will be halted for about one hour between Sahibganj and Tinpahar.
- Bardhaman-Sahibganj MEMU: Passengers on this train will face a delay of 30 minutes on March 8 and 11, and up to 60 minutes on March 9.
New Proposals for Bhagalpur Travelers
Apart from the traffic updates, there is some news regarding future train services. DRUCC member Kunj Bihari Jhunjhunwala has submitted a proposal for 18 new initiatives to improve rail facilities in the region. A major demand is to change the timing of the Bhagalpur-Howrah Vande Bharat Express.
The proposal suggests shifting the departure time of the Vande Bharat train to 5:00 AM instead of the afternoon slot. This change aims to help business travelers and patients reach Howrah early in the day. Other requests include starting a new Vande Bharat train to Varanasi and increasing the frequency of the Bhagalpur-Yesvantpur (Bengaluru) train to help daily commuters and long-distance travelers.
