Indian Railways to introduce next-generation super coaches for flight-like travel experience

Indian Railways is moving towards a major transformation by introducing next-generation super coaches to provide passengers with a flight-like experience. These new coaches are being developed for both Amrit Bharat Express and Vande Bharat Express trains. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently reviewed these models at New Delhi Railway Station on April 4, 2026, to ensure they meet international standards of comfort and safety.

What facilities are included in the next-generation Amrit Bharat coaches?

The new Amrit Bharat Express is specifically designed to provide high-end features to the common man at affordable rates. These trains consist of non-AC coaches that are equipped with advanced safety and comfort features. The railway ministry plans to launch 50 new Amrit Bharat trains to improve connectivity across various routes.

• Improved cushioning in seats and better design for upper berth stairs

Major updates on Vande Bharat manufacturing and railway services

Different railway production units are working on the rollout of Vande Bharat trainsets and other passenger-centric services. The ministry plans to manufacture 10,000 new non-AC coaches over the next two financial years to integrate these advanced features into the general fleet. New Vande Bharat Sleeper trains are also expected to start operations on routes like Kolkata-Guwahati by early 2026.
