A senior railway official stated that the service will connect the national capital with the capital of Jammu and Kashmir, with potential future extensions to Baramulla.

Covering over 800 kilometers, the New Delhi-Srinagar Vande Bharat Sleeper train is designed to complete the journey in less than 13 hours. It is projected to depart at 19:00 hrs and arrive in Srinagar at 08:00 hrs, with stops at major stations including Ambala Cantt Junction, Ludhiana Junction, and Jammu Tawai, among others.
