A big update has come for a new railway project in Rajasthan. This project will create a 143-kilometer railway route connecting Dungarpur and Banswara districts with the rest of India. After many years, there’s finally some hope for this long-awaited connection.
Recently, the local MP Rajkumar Rathore met with the Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. They discussed speeding up the construction of the railway line from Banswara to Ratlam, and the minister promised to expedite the work.
This new railway line will benefit passengers by improving train services. The MP also requested stops for the Udaipur-Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Express at Dungarpur, and an extension of the Udaipur-Delhi Mewar Express to Dungarpur.
The Dungarpur-Ratlam railway project was announced back in the 2010-11 railway budget. However, delays in land acquisition have slowed down progress. The goal is to complete this project by 2031, covering a distance of 191 kilometers.
In total, 19 stations will be built on this route, with 14 in Rajasthan and 5 in Madhya Pradesh. The initial cost was estimated at 2100 crores, but due to delays, costs have now risen to over 4000 crores. This project is expected to increase land values around the new railway line.
